There are so many great packaging organizations out there these days, but one of our favorite here at Global Vision is the IoPP organization. IoPP is the Institute of Packaging Professionals, dedicated to creating networking and educational opportunities that help packaging professionals succeed. Global Vision has been a member of the IoPP for a number of years now. They offer truly great networking opportunities.
A few years back Global Vision was fortunate enough to have hosted the IoPP annual meeting with a full casino night. We had so much fun that are we are hoping to do the same for 2010.

Who is Global Vision?

Belgium? A pharmaceutical distribution hub?

I stumbled upon this interesting article in Pharmaceutical Technology Europe today. It gives an a good overview of the Belgian pharmaceutical industry and how it is thriving. Although one of the smallest countries in the EU, it boasts being one of the largest centers for pharmaceutical distribution.

Pharmaceutical packaging demand on the rise

By the year 2013 expect the pharmaceutical packaging industry to reach a high of $62.3B. A large part of this is due to the increasing number of new packaging options being developed in the US these days with prefillable syringes and inhalers being the amongst the fastest growing. All of this growth combined with the varying languages and dosages leads to other concerns, such as label inspection, packaging inspection and managing and maintaining an optimum level of packaging quality control.
Both pharmaceutical companies and their printers alike are going to have to stay on their toes in terms of the latest automated proofreading technologies.

Packaging goes green.

So over the past few years we have seen a number of “green” initiatives being taken by large and small companies alike. The packaging industry has been no exception. Everywhere we look packaging is being cut.
David Bellm had an interesting video relating to this in his blog on Packaging Digest Magazine website. The blog is called “Eye on Packaging” and the post is “Undies be free! Patagonia lets it all hang out”.

P&G: A Global Vision customer gives back

At Global Vision we feel that it is important to mention the good that companies are doing. In this case, one of our long time customers P&G has been giving back to society. “Loads of Hope” is a campaign for Tide that helps give back to those in disaster affected areas. P&G made a dramatic change to the Tide package (something that they don’t do often) to promote this initiative. Good on you P&G!
P&G has been a long time user of Global Vision’s automated inspection solutions for ensuring packaging accuracy from creation to print.
